Oceanside Water Pollution Control Plant

The Oceanside Water Pollution Control Plant, which is 1 of 3 Wastewater Treatment Plant located in San Francisco, is owned & operated by the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC), and treats wastewater from the west side of San Francisco. This plant treats an average dry weather flow of about 17 million gallons a day and has a total capacity of 65 million gallons during wet weather.

BCI’s scope of work on this project was to replace the several of the major ventilation systems at the plant, which included demolishing the existing ductwork and HVAC equipment, providing and installing new stainless steel and fiberglass reinforced pipe (FRP) ductwork, SS and FRP Fans, motorized dampers, fire dampers, HVAC equipment, and upgrading the controls for the HVAC system. Most of the work was performed while the plant remained in full operation.  This required temporary ventilation measures be put in place, which included bypass dampers, temporary ductwork, and temporary controls. Once the permanent ventilation systems were installed and commissioned, the temporary systems were removed.
