This project, located between Pacifica and Montara on Highway 1, consisted of constructing twin tunnels to bypass a stretch of roadway that has been prone to rock slides and road closures. The tunnels constructed were approximately 4,100 feet long, 30 feet wide, 22 feet high and 60 feet apart.
BCI’s scope of work included installing 32 tunnel jet fans, emergency cross passage ventilation systems, equipment room ventilation systems. The project broke ground in 2005 and was completed in 2012.
