BART Warm Springs Extension

BCI is partnered with Warm Springs Constructors for the HVAC portion of this project, which will add 5.4-miles of new tracks from the existing Fremont Station south to a new station in the Warm Springs district of the City of Fremont.

The Warm Springs Station will feature an at-grade island platform with an overhead concourse, intermodal access to Valley Transit Authority (VTA) and Alameda-Contra Costa Transit (AC Transit) buses, as well as taxi and “kiss and ride” passenger drop off areas, all via Warm Springs Boulevard.

BCI’s scope of work (approximately $9,000,000 in value) includes 350HP tunnel ventilation fans, Warm Springs Station plumbing and ventilation systems,  as well as plumbing and ventilation systems for various support facilities such as the Supervisor’s Building, Traction Power Substation, Ancillary Building, Fremont Station Fire Command Post, Ventliation structures, and Paseo Padre bathrooms. This project is expected to be completed and ready for revenue service in 2015.

Rinconada WTP Update

Below are two progress pictures showing the work inside the existing substation, as well as new ductbank and foundation work for the new standby generator that will be installed shortly. This work is in preparation for a 96-hour plant-wide shutdown in December, the first of 3 plant-wide shutdowns required to perform the upgrades under this contract.

NTP issued for Backwash Pump VFD Replacement

BCI has received Notice to Proceed for the replacement of (2) Backwash Pump Variable Frequency Drives at the Monterey Regional Water Pollution Control Agency. Work includes includes demolition of the existing drives, reconfiguration of the (E) housekeeping pads, installation of the new VFD’s, and re-connection of existing control and power wiring. Work is expected to be completed by March of 2012.

Los Vaqueros Dam Update

Work continues 24/7 on the expansion of Los Vaqueros Dam. Electrical work on the new intake structure will be starting next week.

Las Gallinas Recycled Water Facility

BCI was recently awarded the $1,500,000+ electrical and instrumentation contract for the Las Gallinas Valley Sanitary District – Recycled Water Facility Project. This project includes installation of membrane filter and UV disinfection equipment, adding recycled water facility feed pumps in the deep bed filter effluent channel, demolition of hypochlorite pump and storage tank buildings, a new chemical storage tank pad, and a new chemical pump building.

VTA Kato Road Grade Seperation

Notice to Proceed has been issued for the Kato Road Grade Separation Project. This project will separate Kato Road from the active freight rail corridor currently owned by Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA). When complete, Kato Road will run depressed underneath the rail corridor. BCI’s scope of work includes electrical and controls for the pump station, which was designed for infiltrated groundwater and storm water management. Work is expected to be fully complete in 2013.

SJSU – Central Plant Improvement

Notice to Proceed has been issued on the SJSU Central Plant Improvement Project. Work includes electrical & controls to support the replacement of (2) 1,200 ton chillers, (2) 75HP and (2) 40HP chilled water pumps & VFDs, (2) 200HP condenser water pumps & VFD’s, (2) 200HP cooling tower fan VFD’s. Electrical work involves installation of 5kV distribution & transformers, 480V power distribution systems, as well as 120V power and controls. This project also involves replacement of the entire HVAC-grade facility control system with a more robust industrial-grade PLC-type facility control system. This new system will allow for more advanced control strategies. The existing controls system will be replaced with the new PLC based system while the plant remains operational and in service. Work is expected to be complete by Summer of 2012.

Port of Oakland Shore Power Project

 

BCI was recently awarded the Shore Power Common Utility System Project at the Port of Oakland. This fast track, $1,000,000 project, involves installing 1000mcm 15kV Cabling, 12kV Switchgear, and electrical ductbanks to support future Shore-to-Ship power projects. Work is expected to be completed by Spring of 2012.

Berger II ISD Data Center HVAC Project

Work is underway on the HVAC upgrades for the Berger II ISD Data Center Project. This work includes replacing equipment, ductwork, and controls to support the cooling needs of new emergency power and UPS equipment.
